math - teachers and parents especially read!

i helped my cousin do some math homework a while back. she was doing weird things to get the answers. this math was pretty crappy. but you had to do it using their methods to get full credit. i told her do it however she wanted and if she got graded down for it i would stop by her school and deliver a verbal beat down. then i had ice cream and 2 hours later totally forgot about it.

while researching dept of ed stuff, i stumbled on this vid and got re-pissed off about it. i also noticed this curriculum (under a different name) is taught in my district. and one my buddy works in, and probably lots more. this math is bullshit. it's pure crap. i have some wicked fun high taxes up here in grayslake too. i'm going to write the schools and some letters to the editor. i would encourage you to look into this and make your own decisions. i'm hoping to get some upset parents calling for change. i don't have any kids but i don't have any desire to fund the dumbing down of kids today either.

Mike - I was just cruisin' through the forum looking for pix of Nikki and stumbled on this tread. Boy, am I glad I did. This is a real eye-opener!!!!! I have sent it to my daughter who is an elementary school teacher and I am waiting for her to look at .

thanks! i sent a scathing letter to my alma matter (where my cousin is now) as well as the grade and high schools in my district. i pay $705.92 in taxes a month.
