D.M., Do you have an NHL team that you follow or do you play hockey yourself, or both?

I always wanted to play, but it wasn't in the cards for me. I have followed the Carolina Hurricanes Franchise for years, even back to when they were the Hartford Whalers.
How do you think your Blues will do this year? They've struggled of late, but they should be back in the hunt soon I predict.

I'm a die-hard hockey fan, and blues fan at that. That being said, my faith in them has wavered over the past few years since the lockout, but with our new coach, and bringing in Kariya, hopefully we'll bounce back pretty well.
And on the subject of the thread, it'll be interesting if the true meaning of Cubs plays out again this year :p I don't see it happening, but you never know.

actually im not a blues fan, the travel ice hockey team that i play for is named the blues...so yeah
but i may be following them this season since kariya went there from my former favorite team...the predators
but the predators are pretty much screwed this season since we lost all of our top players...

Whoops, sorry, I assumed from your id you were a Blues fan. Anyway it's more impressive that the actual team you play on is the Blues. Cool. I guess as fans of hockey this is our education to the way the new salary cap works. That's why the Canes went from Champs to out of the playoffs in one year, 4 key players did not return the year after the Cup run, including key (rental) player Doug Weight.

The way the league is now, any team can be a surprise and be strong. Look at the Sabres the last 2 years, I still can't figure out how they were so successful, if you look past Drury and Briere. And now those two are gone. All I know is that teams that struggle get the draft picks and with all the trades and free agent signings those teams will be on top, faster than the old days.
I can't comment on The Cubs or baseball, I don't really follow it.

yeah i think philly will be pretty strong this year, if not then at least they will be the most improved
they signed and got so many good players...hartnell and legwand from my preds and briere
the only way they wont do that well is if the chemistry on the team isnt great like when we signed peter forsberg....
they should add a sports section to this forum...

Good suggestion, I was thinking the same thing.
One problem I have is there are so many players and so many teams I can't keep track of all the moves that are made. So usually when I am watching any team beat up on the Canes I say hey, when did that team get so and so?

You aint lyin Mumblez. And with me being a die hard Indians fan, it pains me to have to listen to those idiots. They are the biggest homers in all of baseball.
Side Note: The White Sox beat my Indians tonight in the 13th inning. When Uribe hit the walk off home run to win it, those idots calling the game about drove me to drink....................................more!
