Ice Road Truckers

I haven't been able to watch every episode of Ice Road Truckers but I do like the show. What is the deal with Hugh?? He's got other drivers up there risking their lives for him and when they have mechanical breakdowns he blames the individual? His drivers can't predict when the cold will affect their trucks or trailers. From what I've seen they are all very good drivers basically because they are still there and haven't been fired or washed out like some others.

I just saw the episode where Drew called it quits. He had bad luck, a couple of trailer problems, truck problems, and Hugh says he brought it all on himself. It's not like any of his drivers are pushing the limits, crashing or getting into accidents due to being careless with speed. After all they are driving on ICE most of the time.

Now Rick is getting shit from Hugh because he has been hauling several loads without heat in his truck and he thinks he has frostbite on his feet. Hugh is such a jerk, he has shown zero compassion. I would hate to work for someone like that.

Rick got the hell out. He said to hell with Hugh. Hugh went up there with 4 drivers including himself, and he's the only one left! Hugh is a dick! All he cares about is hauling loads!

True but I thought when the mechanics came to help him he made a comment that he drove the truck a half mile from the repair shop and it quit running. The mechanic heard that and got pissed off like it was a dig at his shop and his work. Then Drew said he was driving right to the gas station when it ran out of fuel. What shop is going to send a customer away in a truck like that without enough fuel to make it to a gas station??

It's not the mechanics job to make sure you have enough gas to get to the gas station. So it was still his fault.

You're right, he should have checked. Some of the other stuff that happened seemed to be just bad luck and he shouldn't have been blamed for it, but he shouldn't have left the mechanic if he was low on fuel.

I haven't seen the final episode yet, I had to record it to watch later.

Yeah, but since he ran off all of his other drivers, he had 2 other trucks he could pick from to finish the season, so he still won the overall title again.... dickhead

He did get what he deserved. That accident dislodged one of the rear axles on that truck and he said it probably was totaled. So with that one accident to replace that one truck will bite significantly into the money he made.:grin61:
