rap.. was an attempt to get 'lyrical' or cleaver with words that rhyme, and have rhythm with folks of the urban ghetto.. with music..
crunk.. no matter the lyrics.. it's a the beat that get's them
test.... white-stereotype vs blackstereotype - thinking/rhythm-dance/tempo = do you listen to the words vs do you listen to the beat/rhythm?

i agree, lyrically it isn't intellectual by any means..
country music has similar approaches you have the standard sad ballard the staple of the genre, and then there is the honky-tonk.. the dance tune whose rhythm and tempo is very unlike the 'tear-in-my-beer' or pick a leann womack tune tempo and pace..and sometimes honky-tonk lyrics can be just as crazy.. see david allen cole's " wanna fuck the shit outta you" or trace atkin's 'honky tonk, badonk-a-donk' song ..
