Today I am....

more thankful than usual it's Friday. Today was a very tense and stressful day at work since one of the guys screwed up a $20,000 job yesterday. I was in the office all day with the boss discussing our options (of which there were a very limited few) and basically sitting there listening to him spew and sputter about how many mistakes this guy has made in the past 6 months.

After sitting and listening to this ranting for what seemed like an eternity, I calmly and matter-of-factly stated to him that as much as I despise the thought of someone losing their job; unless he (my boss) is willing to continue absorbing loss after loss because of this man's errors, there is no choice but to cut him loose. I felt terrible about having to be that blunt, and basically be the one to recommend termination, but I just don't see anything getting any better with this guy in the near future.

The big downside to all of this is that I now have to do my job as well as the job of the guy we just terminated. I'm not really complaining about it, but I think I'm just starting to realize how much more work has been put on my plate now.
