What's Our Country Coming To?
I have been sitting here bored at work watching CNN and got to thinking about it and what the hell is our country coming to?
I started thinking back about everything that has happened over the past few years with parents killing their children, teachers sleeping with students, husbands killing their wives, the crazy gas price spikes, and etc. I mean is this what our forefathers fought for us to become? I mean we have people living on the streets, people dying because they can't get food, water, or shelter, we have gas prices so high that middle america has basically become lower class america, and what is Congress worried about? The 3 most important subjects to them are 1)Steroids in Sports- Ok this one is a no brainer for me, because I'm one of the few that don't really give a crap if they take Human Growth Hormones or whatever because I don't truely believe they help. I mean I'm sorry but forearms the size of tree trunks don't help you see that 100 mph fastball in time to swing the bat, or with knowing when to make the cut on the ball so you don't give away your route to the Corner back. So this one I say Congress just needs to keep their noses in govt. business and leave this one the f**k alone. 2) Video games and what they are doing to the youth of america. This is another one that I fall on the side of its not the games its the parents. The ESRB should be the group handling this and if parents are to stupid to read on the case that the game has extreme violence and sexual content and buy it for 5 year old Tommy, then its bad parenting not bad video game. I worked for EBGames/Gamestop for almost 2 years and sold way to many copies of GTA: San Andreas to parents for their 3-13 year old kids, that even after I told them what the game contained they shrugged their shoulders and said "Well thats the game they want so whatever.", I never wanted to smack people as much as I did those people because I knew if something happened and their kid got into a fight or anything that they would be the ones screaming the loudest about the damn game corrupting their kids instead of taking the heat themselves. So this is another one that I think our Govt should but the hell out of and let the ESRB do their job. If parents aren't smart enough to read then blame the parents. 3) Same Sex Marriages, Well all I really have to say about this one is "To Each Their Own." If 2 men or 2 women want to get married I say let them. Now Im not Gay nor am I bi-sexual but I say that everyone will be judged in their final day and we shouldn't judge while we're here. I mean how far have we dropped as a country when the Govt can't pass any bill or law because they can't stop tacking on riders that give themselves a pay raise in one way or another? I say instead of a pay raise we cut the salary of everyone in any government role in half! Then maybe they can connect with those of us that don't get paid hundred's of thousand's of dollars a year to sit on our ass 2 or 3 months out of the year and vote on bills to give ourselves a pay raise. I for one really have to wonder if the great men and women that fought for this country originally, the ones that wrote the Declaration of Indepence and the Constitution, if they could see what they were fighting for now would they have even bothered? Or would they have said hell we'd be better off to stay under England? I don't guess anyone can really answer those questions, but it damn sure makes me think. Well Im done now, for those of you that took the time to read this whole rant I hope it at least gets you thinking, even if the only thoughts are what an idiot I am for having this opinion. Have a nice day.

It's hard not to feel sympathy for the government of the US. It's not really their fault that they can't do their jobs properly, they're hamstrung by all sorts of poxy minority groups whose interests have to be taken into account otherwise they'll withdraw their support (and funding).
I mean personally I don't give a crap about baseball or american football because they're not real sports, but steroid abuse would make a massive difference in a proper sport, such as boxing or athletics. Basically the USA and Russia would win everything because they have the best drugs and therefore the best sports people, which kind of defeats the object of sport. Sport is an entertaining distraction, and the World would be poorer for the loss of it. If steroids became the norm then you'd have government agents prowling around hospitals looking for newborn babies with particularly strong genes so they could be trained up from a young age in whichever sport they were genetically programmed to be good at, then pumped full of drugs. Not only would that seriously prejudice the health of those involved, it would put to bed the notion of kids with 'god-given' talents rising out of poverty to make a name for themselves. Garrincha only had one and a half legs, yet he became one of the greatest footballers of all time; if drug-induced physical improvement dictated sport, he'd have been dumped on the scrapheap at birth. Think what would happen to a game like tennis, it'd be full of 200lb brutes like the Williams brothers; I mean it's bad enough as it is... Same sex marriages I have no problem with. I'm a fundamental atheist and I see no reason why people shouldn't do what they please with their lives, as long as it doesn't inevitably hurt other people. Same sex ADOPTION however, I am wholly against, for the pure and simple reason that any kid adopted by two gay men would have the crap bullied out of them at school. I'm not saying that's right, but at the age of 5/6/7, kids are always going to pick on other kids who are 'different'. Especially in a country like the USA, with its radical views on religion. I mean I'm not an American, so I may be missing the point here, but from what I can tell your government does as well as it can what with the limitations placed upon it. You've got to remember that in the eyes of the public there's no such thing as a good politician, only a not very bad one. Back in his day, Abraham Lincoln was seen as a dangerous radical, what with all his freeing the slaves malarkey. I'm not even remotely equating George Bush with Abraham Lincoln, simply by dint of the fact that Bush is a deeply deeply stupid man whereas Lincoln wasn't, but you can only really judge a politician in retrospect, and the amount of horse crap that gets thrown at the US government (especially by its own people) is quite obnoxious in my eyes given that the USA is, by far, the best place on Earth to live (apart from England :grin61: )
